
Russia: Watch advanced military aircraft soar though Far East skies
Around 100 planes, jets and helicopters were deployed to the Russian Far East district on alternative airfields, Friday.
Among the aircraft were supersonic interceptor aircraft such as the Mikoyan MiG-31; supermaneuverable fighter aircraft such as the Sukhoi Su-27; supersonic, all-weather attack aircraft such as the Sukhoi Su-24; airborne early warning aircraft such as the Beriev A-50, and transport aircraft such as the An-26, An-30 and An-12.
A total of 16 helicopters also took part in the exercises at the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky airport. Air assault troops from other Far East regions which had arrived in the designated areas were transferred to the operational control of the Commander of the Eastern Military District.
