Iraq: Kerry rules out co-operation with Iran in anti-IS coalition
US Secretary of State John Kerry spoke to the press in Baghdad on Wednesday after meeting Middle East leaders to co-ordinate actions against the group known as the Islamic State (formerly ISIS).
However, he said that the United States would not co-operate with Iran "militarily or otherwise" in any anti-ISIS coalition. He also acknowledged that the Iraqi government had "not asked for American forces on the ground".
When asked about allegations that the Syrian government was still using chemical weapons, he said there was "a clear pattern of circumstantial evidence" that "some players within the regime" were violating the Chemical Weapons Convention.
