Ukraine: DPR militia fire live rounds to mourn fallen fighters
Seven DPR fighters were buried on Monday on top of the Saur-Mogila Heights as hundreds of locals marked Donbass Liberation Day. The dead men were laid to rest near a WWII memorial that was completely destroyed in fighting for the Heights.
Civilians joined anti-Kiev fighters in the poor weather conditions to pay their respects and to commemorate the Donbass Day of Liberation from Fascism. Among the mourners were veterans of the battles for Saur-Mogila who spoke about their escape routes being cut-off, leaving them at the mercy of tank fire.
The Ukrainian Army withdrew from the area on August 26 leaving anti-Kiev forces to reoccupy the strategically important border area.
