International troops taking part in the U.S led Saber Strike 2014 drills in Lithuania took President Dalia Grybauskaite for a ride on a Danish Leopard 2 A5 main battle tank at Gaizuinai military base, near the town of Rukla, on Tuesday.

More than 1,000 soldiers from the highly-trained battalion of the Danish army arrived for the drills in Lithuania, along with the military equipment that includes Leopard 2 A5 tanks, APCs and armored fighting vehicles.

Joint forces of Denmark, United States, Poland and Lithuania are taking part in tactical exercises at Gaizuinai military base, including some 2,000 soldiers and 8,000 units of military equipment.

Saber Strike drills are being carried out for the fourth time in 2014, with exercises taking place cross bases in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in order to improve collaboration between the armed forces of the NATO states. The drills have training points at each one of the three Baltic countries, with 4,500 participants from 10 nations taking part.
