
Belgium: No Ukraine, Gazprom deal yet in sight says Oettinger
European Union Energy Commissioner, Guenther Oettinger, said that no deal will be reached as part of ongoing trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the EU continuing in Brussels on Tuesday.
The Russian delegation including Aleksandr Novak, Russian Energy Minister and Alexey Miller, CEO of Gazprom are en route back to Belgium from Moscow on Tuesday to continue talks after over 7 hours of multiple rounds of talks on Monday finished in the early hours of the morning.
Oettinger confirmed that talks are scheduled to continue on Wednesday, when the Andrei Kobolev, head of Ukrainian state gas company Naftogaz and Yuriy Prodan, Ukrainian Minister of Energy will also return to continue negotiations. Moscow had given Kiev until June 10 to repay the $1.454 billion debt to Gazprom.
