
Russia: National team prepare for World Cup with 2-0 win over Morocco
The Russian national team prepared for the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a win over Morocco in a friendly in Moscow on Friday. Vasily Beretzutsky opened the scoring on the 29th minute with a shot from close range before Yury Zhirkov sealed the game with another goal on the 58th minute.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Russia's Italian coach Fabio Capello ruled captain Roman Shirokov out of the World Cup, saying he will travel to Finland on Monday for treatment. On a more positive note, he said Dmitry Kombarov and Denis Glushakov are in good shape and will be ready for Russia's first game of the 2014 FIFA World Cup against South Korea on June 17.
Along with South Korea, Russia form part of Group H in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and are also joined by Belgium and Algeria.
