
Russia: Families fleeing violence in Ukraine seek refuge in Rostov region
Refugees fleeing violence in eastern Ukraine, mostly women and their children, continued to arrive to the Dmitriadovsky boarding house in Russia's Rostov Oblast on Wednesday.
A state of emergency has been declared in territories of Rostov Oblast, adjacent to the Ukrainian border, due to the number of refugees crossing into Russia.
The flow of refugees from eastern Ukraine into southern Russia is increasing, according to Children's Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russia Pavel Astakhov, who said more than 7,000 refugees crossed the Ukrainian border Wednesday.
At the Dmitriadovsky boarding house, located 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) from the city of Taganrog, 210 refugees have arrived in the past few days, including 127 children. Employees expect about 120 more to come soon.
