UK: Nazi salutes as EDL march through Newcastle
Around four hundred EDL supporters marched through the streets of Newcastle's West End flanked by police and the 'EDL steward team' Saturday, despite local opposition to the pre-planned event. Some members of the march are seen pulling Nazi salutes.
Supporters baring St. George's flags congregated at Bigg Market at 1pm and marched along Collingwood Street, up Westgate Road, along St James Boulevard, onto Barrack Road.
The rally was held after negotiations with Northumbria police, who raised concerns that the group would be passing through a “highly populated, residential area” of the city.
