      David Hasselhoff failed to arrive as scheduled for a bicycle demo in Berlin on Tuesday, after speaking at an Internet security conference.

      The fans were not to be put off by the non-appearance of their idol however, setting off on their ride through the Friedrichshain neighbourhood accompanied by a reproduction of the car Hasselhoff drove in the 1980s TV series Knight Rider.

      Organisers held the protest against plans to sell off a section of a remaining section of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, for property development.
