Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said US Secretary of State John Kerry's barbed rebuke of the RT network was an unacceptable branding of a serious competitor to Western media outlets in Moscow, Friday.

His statements came on the sidelines of a meeting of young diplomats from the Commonwealth of Independent States countries (CIS) in the Russian capital.

US Secretary of State John Kerry criticised RT for its coverage of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine on Thursday, calling it a "Putin propaganda bullhorn."
