Germany: Lufthansa pilot strike grounds thousands of passengers

Passengers waited at Frankfurt airport as they saw their flights being cancelled due to Lufthansa pilots' strike on Wednesday. Lufthansa said that 3,800 flights will be cancelled this week, which will affect 425,000 passengers. The walkout is the third to hit Frankfurt airport in six weeks.

Pilots are protesting for improved pay and working conditions, in a strike which will last until Friday. The Lufthansa management said that they are already preparing for an efficient take-off on Saturday, and urged the pilots' union to start negotiations.
