Russia: Crimeans' joy at joining Russia can't be stage-managed - Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov challenged critics who have termed Crimea's accession into Russia as an 'unlawful' annexation to "watch footage from Crimea", in Moscow on Friday. The minister continued that the "heartfelt happiness" visible among Crimeans can not be faked.
Lavrov's comments came during a meeting of the Federal Council in Moscow. The Federal Council, the Russian parliament's upper chamber, are considering documents concerning the accession of Crimea to the Russian Federation.
The discussion follows the State Duma's decision to approve a treaty of accession signed by President Vladimir Putin. Support from the Federal Council would complete the ratification process.
