Russia: Simferopol sniper still at large - Crimean prosecutor
Crimean authorities confirmed in a Simferopol press conference Wednesday that investigations are ongoing regarding a fatal shooting which killed two and wounded two others in Simferopol on Tuesday. Crimean Prosecutor Natalia Poklonskaya denied reports that authorities had detained the killer, and confirmed that they are still reviewing suspects.
A Ukrainian military serviceman as well as a member of a pro-Russian self-defence militia were killed, and a Ukrainian military serviceman and a pro-Russian self-defence member were both injured near a Ukrainian military facility, after shots were fired from a nearby building.
Poklonskaya said that the shooting had a "high degree of similarity" to sniper attacks on Maidan Square in Kiev in February, and that the goal of the attack in Simferopol was to "provoke violence between the military forces of Ukraine and the Crimean Republic."
