Yalta, one of the most famous resorts in Crimea, was awash with tourists Saturday one day ahead of the referendum determining Crimea will join the Russia or remain part of Ukraine.
Yalta is rich in history, along with the rest of Crimea. It was declared a place for the medical treatment of the working people, by Lenin in 1920. Stalin had a summer residences in Yalta. Most famously, Yalta was the host city for a peace conference on post-war reorganisation between the "Big Three" powers - the Soviet Union, the United States and the United Kingdom. Since then, it's been a popular tourist destination, especially for Russian citizens.
