USA: US media ignored Paet's sniper revelation - Russia's UN envoy
Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vitali Churkin, slammed US mainstream media for failing to report on a leak which suggested the former Ukrainian opposition movement had ordered shootings near Maidan. He made the comments during an interview with RT in New York City.
The leaked phone call featured Estonian Foreign Minister, Urmas Paet, speaking to European Union foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, shortly after visiting Kiev in late February. He informed her that it was likely snipers had been hired by Maidan leaders.
Paet added there was also evidence that the same snipers had shot at both protesters and police, and expressed his concern at the Rada-appointed interim government's reluctance to investigate.
