France: Will continue to sell warships to Moscow- French FM

The Vladivostok, a French Mistral-class warship sold to Russia in 2011, was tested off the shores of Saint-Nazaire on Wednesday.

Irrespective of the Ukrainian crisis, France said it will not scrap the €1.2 billion agreement, made in 2011, to sell two Mistral-class helicopter carriers to Russia. The 22,000 tonne warship is the sister ship to the 'Sevastopol', which was named after the Crimean strategic harbor, and is capable of deploying helicopters, tanks, and up to 450 soldiers.

The Vladivostok is set for delivery by the end of 2014 while the sister ship is still under construction. France's Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said that despite the tension build up between Russia, Ukraine and the EU, France is not considering sanctions against the sale of the warships.
