Brazil: Will Curitiba stadium be ready for World Cup?
The Estadio Joaquim Americo Guimaraes stadium in Curitiba, southern Brazil, will remain a World Cup 2014 venue, but Fifa warned Tuesday that building work needs to continue at the "highest pace."
Last month Fifa said that the Curitiba stadium could be excluded since it had missed a December 31 deadline. However, work has been accelerated sufficiently for the stadium to remain on course to host World Cup games.
The 40,000-seater arena has been selected to host the second game of group F between Iran and Nigeria on June 16, as well as Honduras versus Ecuador in group E, Australia versus Spain in group B and Algeria versus Russia in group H.
