Turkey: Giant hologram Erdogan upstages Tupac at Izmir rally
Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed a conference of members of his Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Izmir on Sunday, appearing before them as a 40-foot tall hologram.
The most famous use of holographic imagery is probably the projection of deceased rapper Tupac Shakur, which performed alongside Snoop Dogg at Coachella music festival in 2012. However, the technology has also been used for political purposes, with Indian prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi broadcasting 26 holograms of himself to a crowd numbering in the thousands.
