      Switzerland: Syria torture photos 'fabricated' - deputy FM Makdad

      Deputy Foreign Minister of Syria Faisal Makdad said recent published photos purportedly showing torture in Syrian prisons were fabricated, at a press conference in Geneva on Sunday, following the latest round of Geneva II talks.

      After being given a list from a 'friendly' country with the names of alleged prisoners currently held in Syria, Makdad said that, "more than 60-70% of them are people who have never entered any prison, and around 20% were freed".

      Commenting on the Qatar backed report purportedly showing photos of torture in Syrian prisons, Makdad said that he believed the photos were fabricated.

      Makdad also said that he holds Turkey responsible for the Syrian bloodshed, for allowing opposition militants into Syria.
