Ukraine: Thousands gather to farewell killed Belarusian protester
Thousands of Ukrainians, including opposition leaders Vitali Klitschko, Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Oleg Tyagnybok, attended the funeral procession on Sunday for Mikhail Zhiznevsky, a 25-year-old Belarusian protester killed on January 22, in Kiev.
Masked members of the Ukrainian National Assembly-Ukrainian People's Self-Defense organization carried the coffin from St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery and through the crowd, who chanting "Hero!" in Ukrainian as the procession passed.
After the church service the mourning procession headed to Independence Square where tens of thousands of people gathered to pay tribute. Zhiznevsky was one of two protesters who died from gunshot wounds on Wednesday, January 22.
