      Austria: Scuffles ensue at Viennese far-right ball protests

      Left-wing protests against the annual right-wing 'Akademikerball' led to scuffles between police and protesters as the demonstration came to an end in Vienna Friday evening.

      Police had enforced a 'danger zone' in the Austrian capital in anticipation of the ball, which took place in the Hofburg Palace.

      The Akademikerball is the festive highlight for the German National Association of Austria, and many of its attendees are members of far-right organisations in Europe.

      Austria: Scuffles ensue at Viennese far-right ball protests
