Ukraine: Coffee keeps the protesters full of beans
A small army of mobile coffee carts is helping keep protesters caffeinated at Kiev's Independence Square, and Thursday business was brisk as usual.
Owners say they have been making three times more profit every day since the beginning of large-scale protests than on ordinary days. Says local barista Dmitry: "While protests go on I have a three times more daily revenue than usual. People drink a lot of coffee and mulled wine as they need to get warm. So business goes well."
The price for a cup of espresso doesn't exceed 87 euro cents (7 Ukrainian grivnas). Besides various types of coffee, the carts also usually offer hot tea and mulled wine.
