Central African Republic: Food aid reaches families in Bangui
WFP emergency food aid reached displaced persons' camps across the Central African Republic (CAR) capital of Bangui on Friday.
The conflict in CAR has driven hundreds of thousands of people away from their homes, increasing the demand for humanitarian aid.
Housainou Taal, Country Director of the WFP in CAR noted: "The situation in Central African Republic has deteriorated sharply. There are more than 1.3 million people in urgent need, these people don’t have food, they don’t have water, sanitation is a problem and WFP is responding in a timely manner."
According to Amnesty International, at least 1,000 people were killed in Bangui during attacks in early December.
