      Ukraine: Canadian FM visits Independence Square

      Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird was caught by the press while walking through Kiev's Independence Square Thursday evening.

      Wearing a blue and yellow scarf - the Ukrainian national colours - he talked to protesters and shook hands. Demonstrators welcomed him, shouting 'Molodci' (Ukrainian for 'good guys').

      Baird was accompanied by Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC), who was holding a Canadian flag.

      Baird is in Ukraine to attend an OSCE ministerial meeting.
