Italy: Protesters outside of Berlusconi's home demand help
Dozens of protesters gathered in front of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's residence in Rome to demand from Berlusconi a solution to their financial situation. One protester was carried away by security forces after losing control, taking off his t-shirt and shouting for help.
Protesters, members of the Garbage consortium crew of Naples, claimed that they have not been paid for 13 months: "We have to pay for the garbage, we don't get paid. 954 euro and it has been 13 months without getting paid, it's absurd. How can I manage to pay, they say we evade taxes, I want to understand how I can manage to pay."
Another protester said that Berlusconi ensured the proper functioning of the agreement with the Garbage consortium: "When he [Berlusconi] was there, consortiums worked but at the moment that he left and the left is ruling nothing can be understood any more, we are under a regime."
Berlusconi addressed around one thousand of his supporters in central Rome, moments before being expelled from the senate by 192 to 113 votes on Wednesday after being convicted for tax fraud.
