Germany: Golden Dawn solidarity protest in Dortmund
Dozens of National Resistance Dortmund (NWDO) members rallied in the centre of Dortmund on Friday, in solidarity with the Greek far-right party Golden Dawn. Carrying German nationalist and Greek flags, the protesters demonstrated following the deaths of two Golden Dawn members killed in a drive-by shooting outside the party's offices in Athens on November 1.
The demonstration was closely guarded by police, and a counter protest took place near Dortmund's central railway station, with around 30 left-wing supporters taking part. The NWDO was banned by Germany's interior minister in August 2012, but the organisation has since continued to hold similar demonstrations.
