Russia: Lukashevich says Russia "doing whatever we can" for Syria
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich spoke about the Syrian conflict during a press briefing in Moscow on Friday. He questioned claims that the Syrian regime where still hiding chemical weapons, saying "such unsubstantiated claims that Damascus is hiding information about its chemical weapons can only be seen as a sign of disrespect towards two major international organizations - the UN and the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons'.
He added "Russia keeps doing whatever we can to provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian people in the spirit of solidarity with them and other countries of the region". This comment was in reference to Russia's $800,00 donation to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which he said was allocated for the UNHCR projects aimed at helping internally displaced persons in Syria and the program implemented in collaboration with the Syrian government and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
