Egypt: Mubarak faces delayed murder prosecution
The trial of former Egyptian ruler Hosni Mubarak continued in Cairo on Saturday following a long delay in the process. A group of Muslim Brotherhood supporters protested outside the court, holding banners and chanting anti-army slogans. A smaller group of pro-Mubarak supporters also protested, chanting "Mubarak, Mubarak, Mubarak!" over the beat of drums.
The former president is accused of complicity in the murder of protesters during the 2011 uprisings. Mubarak's family and other members of the former government's inner circle are also involved in the trial, including his two sons.
The former leader was originally sentenced to life imprisonment in 2012. However, this decision was overturned by an Egyptian court with the retrial beginning in May of this year.
