Germany: Consequences justified if Syria chemical attack confirmed - Westerwelle
Speaking at the Foreign Ministry in Berlin on Tuesday, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle discussed the alleged use of chemical weapon in Syria.
Westerwelle warned Damascus: "If the deployment [of chemical weapons] is confirmed, then the global community has to act. Germany in that case belongs to those who consider consequences to be justified. In that case we will coordinate things working closely with our allies, above all closely with the UN."
He continued: "We are together with our allies and partners decided about something: the deployment of chemical weapons would be a civil crime. We urge for an independent investigation of these heavy accusations through the UN."
