The Russian region of Khabarovsk continued to have water from the Amur River encroach upon the city of 580,000. On Thursday, water levels reached the seven-metre (23-foot) historical maximum.

Over a thousand houses in 28 localities have been affected in the region impacting around 3,800 people, including 743 children. In total, more than 2,000 people were evacuated from the area. Over 38,000 hectares of crops have also been damaged by the water, and a motorway near the village of Svechino village was also damaged.

Flooding caused by torrential rains has driven at least 13,000 people from their homes in Russia's Far East in three regions along the Chinese border. Both the Amur River and a major artery, the Zeya, have flooded huge areas in what is said to be the region's worst flooding for 120 years.
