Denmark: Santa Claus World Congress meet and compete

The annual Santa Claus World Congress brought out the holiday spirit in and around Copenhagen for three days on Wednesday as professional Santas met up to do more than just climb down chimneys and give children presents. The Santas from across the globe have met every year since 1957 at Dyrehavsbakken, the world's oldest amusement park, where they stage a parade and hold Christmas competitions and workshops during 'Christmas in July'.

Santas from Hong Kong, Japan, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway and Denmark participated in an obstacle course competition. The Hong Kong Santa prevailed, winning the title of 'World Champion'. Santas also competed for the title of 'Honorary Santa of the Year'. Christmas pixies and elves in full costume were also at the Santa congress, helping to excite the Christmas cheer in the crowds. The conference was the brainchild of a former entertainer at Dyrehavsbakken, who went by the name Professor Tribini.
