Russia: EXCLUSIVE: "They killed him", says father of Ibrahim Todashev
Abdul-Baki Todashev, the father of Ibrahim Todashev who was killed by US police, comments on his son's death in Grozny on Friday.
Ibrahim Todashev was killed on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida. The 27-year-old Chechen was reportedly shot by police after attacking an FBI agent with a knife during an interrogation concerning a triple murder in Waltham, outside Boston in September 2011. According to police, Ibrahim Todashev admitted that the deceased Boston bombing suspect Tamerian Tsarnaev had a role in the crime.
The bombings at the Boston marathon on April 15 killed three people and injured more than 260 people. In the days after the attack two Noth Caucasian brothers, Dzhokhar and Tamerian Tsarnaev, were considered as main suspects for the bombings. In the violence that ensued during their arrests Tamerian died. His younger brother Dzohokhar was severely injured and is now being held under custody by the police.
Todashev believes that his son, who is reportedly a friend of the two Boston marathon bombing suspects, was not connected to any kind of terrorist cell groups.
Todashev's father explains how his son and a friend named Khusein Taramov, were interrogated by the FBI.
"The FBI interrogated them separately - Tamarov was take outside and my son was interrogated inside. They let Taramov go after three hours, that's what he said. He wanted to stay and wait for his friend, but they told him that there was no need, that is, that he should leave. Approximately three hours later Ibrahim was released, and they met up. Then Taramov left, and, according to him, three or five hours later he called Ibrahim, bu he didn't pick up his phone. Taramov decided to go back, and when he did, he saw that the whole neighbourhood was closed off. There were police cars, ambulances, helicopters; he wasn't allowed to come closer. In my opinion, since the FBI came to his house after midnight, interrogated him for 8 hours without a lawyer or any witnesses, I think they were pressuring him and killed him. My son is innocent. I am 200% sure of it. He wasn't part of any radical groups, he was never involved in anything like that. He practised traditional Islam, and he was serious about his faith. He was a very calm person. I guess you can pin anything on a dead man, say and write all the horrible things about him. But it is not true, I know my son."
