Wuxi molten iron fireworks display dazzles ahead of Chinese New Year
Chinese folk artists created molten iron fireworks as part of Chinese New Year celebrations in Wuxi, Thursday.
"I came specifically to watch the iron firework performance, which is China's intangible cultural heritage. It’s very beautiful," said Mrs Deng, a tourist.
The molten fireworks have been a ritual for the Chinese New Year celebrations for 600 years. The blacksmiths spread the molten iron into the air, and bat it mid-flight, to produce a cascade of bright sparks.
The Chinese Lunar Year is celebrated by two billion people around the globe, and begins every year with the rise of the second new moon, after the winter solstice.
