The China-Vietnam border welcomed heavy traffic in Guangxi on Thursday, as the cross-border trade boomed after the easing of the COVID-19 restrictions in China.

The Youyiguan frontier port in Pingxiang is an important gateway for trade between China and ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations). Trucks full of goods wait in long lines for customs clearance every day.
"There are many kinds of goods here. Our domestic exports are shoes, clothes, agricultural and sideline products, and handicrafts, and the imports from abroad are mainly fruits and Vietnamese specialties," shared Yang, a valet driver.
According to the statistics of the customs department, the daily traffic volume of trucks at Youyi frontier port has approached 1100 since China started to lift its most severe COVID-19 policies.
Many fruit wholesalers who had been waiting for fresh fruits in the China-ASEAN International Logistics Park immediately pulled them to the fruit trading market to start selling.
"The shipment volume is larger than that before the control of COVID-19 was released, because after the control of COVID-19 was released, many goods were transferred more smoothly. Now more products are imported from Southeast Asian countries: Vietnamese mangoes, Vietnamese jackfruit, Thai golden pillow durian, and other goods," commented a fruit wholesaler named Liang, adding that "Last year's business was a loss. This year, the profit was relatively stable."
To ensure the freshness and quality of imported and exported agricultural products, the customs service has established a 'green channel' for import and export of fruits, as well as a 7-day and 24-hour customs clearance service, laboratory quick detection, and other measures.
