France: Hollande meets the representatives of Paris attack victims following Abdeslam arrest
French President Francois Hollande met with the victims of the November 13 Paris attack and their representatives at the Elysee Palace in Paris, on Monday.
Following the meeting, representatives of the victims held a brief press conference, in which Georges Salines, president of victims association '13 novembre: fraternite et,' stated how Hollande had praised the victims' attitude. "He thanks us for the manner by which we have expressed ourselves, since the 13th of November, calling not for revenge, but instead, calling for humanity, calling for a better society to be constructed," said Salines.
Jean Reinhart, a lawyer representing victims of November 13th attack, also stressed that "at the very least, we will have a trial, with a chair and one person seated, who was guilty - and who incontestably played a part in the cause of this situation," in reference to the detention of Salah Abdeslam.
The 26-year-old Salah Abdeslam was captured by security forces on Friday after his fingerprints were allegedly traced to a Brussels flat on Tuesday. He was treated for injuries sustained in his arrest and now awaits extradition into French custody, an order his lawyer, Sven Mary, has promised to challenge. According to authorities, one other suspect was arrested during the operation and a 35-year-old suspect connected to Abdeslam was killed.
