Germany: "We should rethink sanctions against Russia" - Dr. Klaus Mangold
Prof Dr. Klaus Mangold, the honorary consul of the Russian Federation to Baden-Württemberg, said that Germany should reconsider sanctions against Russia in order to improve the economic relations between both countries, while speaking at the ‘Perspectives on economic relations with Russia’ conference in Stuttgart, Tuesday.
Mangold spoke of the EUR 25 billion (USD 31 billion) trade investment Germany has made in Russia saying that they "cannot simply give this up". He also said that a "return to normality and understanding" should be arranged. The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Alexey Ulyukaev, also spoke at the conference.
Held in Stuttgart's Chamber of Commerce, the event was organised to discuss the current and future status of economic and trade relations between Baden-Württemberg and Russia, which organisers of the event say are facing a “severe endurance test” following the European Union imposing sanctions on Russia.
