Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in London, on his surprise visit to the country on Wednesday.

Footage shows Zelensky’s plane, a Royal Air Force aircraft, landing at Stansted airport, with the two leaders embracing. They are seen walking up to Number 10 Downing Street, the PM’s official residence, before shaking hands outside the door and going inside for talks.

The Ukrainian leader is expected to use a speech to the UK parliament later to repeat calls to be given fighter jets to use in the conflict with Russia.

Earlier, Sunak confirmed that fighter pilot training will begin, while his spokesperson said that he had asked Defence Secretary Ben Wallace to investigate 'what jets we might be able to give'.

It came after the US, Germany and UK promised deliveries of tanks to Kiev.

Moscow has accused the Western nations of escalating the conflict, saying that the weaponry would only prolong the fighting and wouldn’t change the outcome.

Zelensky’s trip was his second outside Ukraine since the conflict began. Media reports suggest he will visit Brussels on Thursday.
