Sudan: Israeli FM Cohen meets Sudanese Army Commander al-Burhan to discuss 'normalisation'
Sudan's military leader General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan received Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in Sudan's capital Khartoum on Thursday as the two country look to discuss 'normalisation' of relations.
Cohen’s trip was the first official visit by an Israeli foreign minister to Khartoum. He had previously visited in January 2021 when serving as intelligence minister, the first minister to travel to Sudan after the countries agreed to normalise ties.
Sudan and Israel agreed in October 2020 to normalise relations in a US-brokered deal that made Sudan the fifth Arab country to do so.
