Sean Dyche discussed the challenges facing him at Everton Football Club, as he was introduced as the struggling Premier League outfit’s new head coach in Liverpool on Monday.

"Firstly, delighted, obviously. A big challenge ahead, but one I’m ready for, one that I want to take on," he explained. "I know about the fans, that's for sure, and how precious this club is to them, and showing them that we are ready to work, and are ready to give them what they want."

Everton sacked coach Frank Lampard after a dreadful start to the season, with the club currently sitting in 19th place in the Premier League, second from bottom, with only three wins from 20 games.

Dyche was confirmed after talks with Argentine coach and former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa reportedly broke down.

"Anyone can take the wheel of the ship in calm waters. It is not calm waters at the minute. You have to earn the right. So that is my job," Dyche stated.

"What I would say is, we want to put out a team that works, a team that can fight, a team that can wear the badge with pride beyond just tactical and technical," he continued.

Dyche signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Merseyside club, lasting until June 2025. He previously managed Watford and Burnley, and spent most of his playing career with Chesterfield.
