USA: 'I don't have anything to announce in terms of M1'- Pentagon spox avoids responding on Abrams tank supplies to Ukraine
Department of Defence Press Secretary Patrick Ryder refused to comment on reports over possible supplies of US-made M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, speaking during a briefing in Washington DC on Tuesday.
"I have nothing to offer on that" he answered a question on supplies of the exportable version of the M1 Abrahams tanks for Ukraine.
The announcement comes after reports citing US officials said that the Biden administration is finalising plans to send the tanks.
"Our security assistance relationship with Ukraine, we're going to continue to talk about not only their short-term needs but also their medium- and long-term needs," Ryder added.
Regarding the training of Ukrainian forces in the Patriot air defence system that has just begun, Ryder said that it would last about six weeks and that once completed 'those forces will return to Ukraine'.
