USA: Dozens hold candlelight vigil to honour victims of Monterey Park mass shooting
Dozens of community members and mourners gathered together in Monterey Park on Tuesday to organise a candlelight vigil in order to honour the victims of the mass shooting tragedy at the ballroom studio.
Footage features people paying their respects by placing flowers and lighting candles. A couple of anti-gun protesters holding placard were also seen among the mourners.
Many people had gathered together in the majority Asian-American city of Monterey Park to celebrate the Lunar New Year, and it turned into tragic chaos right after a 72-year-old suspected gunman indiscriminately opened fire multiple times at Star Ballroom Dance Studio. The gunman was later found dead after he took his own life.
The death toll later increased from 10 to 11 people after a wounded victim with a critical condition was hospitalised and later reported dead. Most of the victims were reportedly in their 50s and 60s.
