China has enough vaccines and medicines and does not need any help from the EU and the United States, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said during her daily briefing on Friday .

"The relevant person in charge of the World Health Organization said recently that the vaccination rate in China is very high, and whether inactivated vaccine, viral vector vaccine or mRNA vaccine, it is equally protective against severe illness and death," Mao Ning said.

"We are willing to continue to strengthen communication and co-operation with the international community, including the United States, to better respond to the challenges of the epidemic and better protect people's lives and health," Mao Ning added.

Mao Ning also thanked the EU for its attention and support for the epidemic situation in China.

“The epidemic situation in China is controllable and predictable, and our medical supplies are also adequate. At the same time, we are willing to further strengthen co-operation with the international community to meet the challenges of the epidemic,” Mao Ning added.

In addition, Mao Ning commented on the travel restrictions many foreign countries have imposed on Chinese travellers.

"The Chinese side has repeatedly stressed that the epidemic prevention measures of various countries should be scientific and appropriate, should not affect normal personnel exchanges and exchanges and co-operation between countries, should not adopt discriminatory practices, let alone take advantage of the opportunity to engage in political manipulation," Mao Ning said.

"In response to unreasonable practices in some countries, China will take corresponding measures following the principle of reciprocity in the light of the epidemic situation and the need for prevention and control," Mao Ning added.
