Brazil: King Pele Avenue plaque is unveiled in front of Maracana stadium
A group of people could be seen in front of the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, on Wednesday. They, mostly journalists, were there to cover the launch of the street sign honoring the king of football Pele as the greatest player in the world.
"Pele is the biggest player in history of the world and here he is in front of the biggest stadium of Brazil, maybe of the world. So, it was here where he scored his 10000 goal, here he said goodbye to the Brazilian team against Yugoslavia. Here he became world champion playing with Santos, although he didn't play in the final", explains Felipe Quintaes, Deputy Mayor of Grande Tijuca neighborhood.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, mostly known by the nickname Pele, died on last 29th of December in consequence of a two years cancer illness. He was three times football world champion for the Brazilian team, being regarded as "the greatest of the greatest" by FIFA.
