USA: ‘Because that’s where my son died’ - Biden confuses Ukraine with Iraq during speech in Florida

US President Joe Biden wrongly claimed that his son Beau Biden died in Iraq after confusing the Middle-Eastern country with Ukraine, during a speech on inflation in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday.

“Inflation is a worldwide problem right now because of a war in Iraq, and the impact on oil and which Russia is doing. I mean, the excuse me, the war in and Ukraine” Biden said. “I was thinking of Iraq because that’s where my son died.”

Beau Biden served in Iraq with the Delaware Army National Guard in 2008, but died of brain cancer at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2015.

This is not the first time Joe Biden has misremembered his son's death. On October 13 during a speech in Colorado, the US president said that Beau 'lost his life in Iraq'.
