
Germany: Catalan film 'Alcarras' wins Berlinale's Golden Bear award
Catalan film 'Alcarras' won the top prize of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival at the awards ceremony in the German capital on Wednesday.
Director Carla Simon, who received the Golden Bear on behalf of the film crew, was visibly moved.
The Grand Jury Prize went to South Korean moviemaker Hong Sangsoo with 'The Novelist's Film.' Meltem Kaplan won the Silver Bear for a lead performance with her role in 'Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George Bush'.
The award ceremony was scaled down this year due to the COVID pandemic.
