86-year-old former professional athlete Wu Zhinai has retained enthusiasm after decades of playing ice hockey, and has set to work teaching youngsters the intricacies of the sport, as seen in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, on Friday.

Wu demonstrated various tricks to the group of youngsters, who were kitted out in safety helmets and identical orange skates.

The former athlete explained that he had been practicing ice hockey for over 80 years, and was amongst the first athletes to pick up winter sports in China.

"After I retired, I went to organise a hockey team at the Polar Bear Ice Stadium in Taiyuan. I was also a volunteer at the education bureau in Taiyuan. Whilst volunteering in the indoor ice field, I have trained over a thousand teenagers to play ice hockey," Wu continued, describing the act as a 'public service.'

Commenting on the Beijing Winter 2022 Olympics, Wu expressed wishes that winter sports be promoted amongst young people, especially teenagers.
