State of Palestine: Hamas producing TV show in response to Israeli series 'Fauda'
Hamas is producing a drama series in the Gaza Strip called 'The Fist of the Free,' in which it presents its account of the conflict with Israel. The production was seen filming in Gaza City in the past days.
The series will come as a response to the Israeli series 'Fauda,' watched by millions on Netflix and Apple TV, and it seeks to reflect the Palestinian people's perspective of the ongoing events.
"The message from this series is that the resistance is still pressing the trigger and is still resisting the Israeli occupation as much as it can. Today we are talking about Palestinian drama, that Palestinian drama is young with the ambition to continue thriving," Muhammad Thuraya, director of the artistic production unit in Hamas.
Three Palestinian writers worked on 'The Fist of the Free,' and were inspired by a story of an intelligence operation carried out by an Israeli special unit in 2018, in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. The 2018 operation ended in an armed clash that resulted in the killing of seven Hamas fighters, including a field commander, as well as an Israeli officer.
Hamas established its own institution for drama production in 2007, months after it took control of the Gaza Strip, which has been besieged by Israel ever since.
'Fauda' is an Israeli political television series launched in 2015, and its opening ceremony was sponsored by former Prime Minister Ehud Barak.
