Grow old well! Sicilian town boasts 15 over 100-year-olds
Castellammare del Golfo, a town in Sicily, takes pride that 15 of its residents are over 100-year-old, as seen on Wednesday.
"There are 15 over one-hundred-year olds; 11 are women, perhaps women are therefore stronger, and four are men," said Nella, the daughter of one of the over-100-year old women, while showing old pictures of her mother.
The remarkable longevity of Castellammare del Golfo residents could be linked to the overall sound quality of life.
"Clean air, there is no pollution, there are no industries, it is really good. Even the climate is never cold. In fact, in winter, the temperature is mild, and hot in the summer. Here people live a non-lazy life, based on eating healthy and working," said Nella.
The town's mayor and the local administration usually send their best wishes to the ultra centennials on their birthdays.
