52-year-old Anand Prakash Chouksey built a scaled-down replica of the notorious Taj Mahal for his wife Manjusha, as well as for the city of Burhanpur, as seen in footage filmed on Saturday.

The ivory-white imitation constructed with Makrana marble boasts four bedrooms, intricate decorative carvings on the floors and stairs, lattice windows, a large dome, and a mediation room.

“Inside the house, we get bigger positive energy, and it feels so relaxing. The specialty of the Makrana marble is that it absorbs heat. In Burhanpur, the temperature rises over 45, 46 and 47 degrees. Even at this temperature, the house remains cool from the inside.”

Building the home took three years and several trips to the city of Agra, where the famed mausoleum lies.

"I visited the Taj Mahal many times in the past and two or three times before the construction, and we had thousands of photographs of the Taj Mahal from the internet. We studied the images of the Taj Mahal. Engineer Praveen Chokse did a lot of hard work.”

The house cost around 20 million rupees ($260,000, €229,814) to build and is a popular attraction in Burhanpur city located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

The Taj Mahal, often called a ‘monument of love,’ was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century to house the tomb of his wife, who died giving birth to their 14th child.
