In August, an infant who was separated from his family during the Kabul evacuations from the US and NATO forces at the Hamid Karzai Airport is being taken care of by the family who found him, as seen on Saturday in the capital.

Hamid and Farima were seen affectionately caring for the baby, which they named 'Muhammad,' surrounded by their three children, dressing, feeding, and playing with him as if he was another member of the family.

"We wanted to go to the airport with my brother because the situation in Afghanistan was very bad on that day; people were scared, everyone wanted to get inside the airport and leave Afghanistan," explained Hamid.

Hamid's intentions of leaving Kabul changed when he found the baby at the airport, as he decided to care for the child until his parents were found.

"It has been three months since we care for this child. I did not sleep at night because of him, I got used to him, and maybe I could not live without him," added Farima.

The family was in touch with the Red Crescent Society and was able to contact the birth parents who are currently living in the US.

Thousands of desperate men, women, and children tried to flee Afghanistan once the capital fell to the Taliban on August 15, 2021.
